The purpose of this criteria is to provide the minimum requirements for the design of flow meters.
General and specific design requirements are provided for commonly used flow meters in the process industry. The type of flow meters addressed in this specification are head meters (differential pressure), velocity, oscillatory, electromagnetic and mass. Restriction flow elements and flow switches are excluded as these are not flow indicating devices. This Practice does not cover any process isolation (root) valves, secondary transmitters, or process piping. This Practice does not cover custody transfer measurement requirements.
